Have you ever felt like dinner time was a three-ring circus? A time when total chaos ensued no matter your efforts to thwart it from being so?
It’s a strange phenomenon really. Our children are actually well-mannered, polite individuals but for some reason the dinner table had turned into a free-for-all, silly, obnoxious fest!
Something magical happened one night. On a total whim my husband had an idea to bring focus and order back to the dinner table.
He asked each of our children these 3 Questions That Have Transformed Our Family Dinner Table:
Suddenly we could see our darling children sitting there with us at the dinner table again instead of the crazy, banshees they had turned into!
Not only was there peace on earth again, but we started to learn the most wonderful, amazing details from their school day! We learned what is most important to them, the best parts of their day, the not-so-great parts of their day, and what they need prayers for.
Our family dinner table has become more focused and intentional!
The next time you are at the dinner table, don’t simply ask one another, “How was your day?”
I challenge you to ask these 3 questions:
*What is something funny, weird or cool that happened to you today?
*What is one way you were blessed?
*How can we pray for you?
Or perhaps you can think of 3 questions that are more fitting for your family. The point is to ask specific questions that are motivated by learning more about each other’s day while also creating an enjoyable dinner table environment for everyone.
You will begin to see your family grow and change for the better and your family dinner table will be much more delightful!
