Some might say I’m a little obsessed with this great discovery…
felt sticks to felt!
This means that the need for sticky adhesive or velcro isn’t necessary! This is brand new information for this DIY crafting momma!
{a little late to the game some might say}
With this mind-blowing discovery came the darling creation of my Christmas Tree Felt Activity!
It’s so fun, so easy, THRIFTY and a MUST if you have children!
Supplies Needed:
- 1 yard of green felt (you will have some leftovers)
- Felt squares for the gifts (I picked 2 white and 2 red)
- Yellow felt square for the star on top of your Christmas tree
- Holiday felt ornaments or kit
- Felt stickies or other crafting supplies for the ornaments (optional)
- Hot glue gun for decorating the ornaments (optional)
- Scissors
- Pen/Pencil
{I used a lot of supplies that I had on hand from another project. You can certainly keep costs down by shopping your local craft store with coupons}
Steps for Tree Assembly:
- Using a pen, sketch a tree on your green felt (ours is 3 feet tall)
- Sketch a star on the yellow felt (ours is 10 inches tall)
- Using a good pair of scissors, cut out both your tree and star
- Attach your tree to the wall (I use staples since they are strong and sturdy)
- Place your star on top of the tree (no adhesive needed since felt sticks to felt!)
TIP: Here are other ways to attach the tree to the wall if you don’t want to use staples
Steps for Creating the Ornaments and Gifts:
#1. Use a hot glue gun to decorate your gift boxes (I glued felt garland and sticky felt dots)
#2. Use a felt ornament kit or the above supplies to decorate your ornaments (I used both)
#3. Staple up your gifts underneath the tree so they stay in place
#4. Place your felt ornaments freely on your tree without any adhesive because…felt sticks to felt!
#5. Stand back and watch your children enjoy your new creation…The Christmas Tree Felt Activity!
I hope that you and your children enjoy this simple, DIY project!
Have a Merry Christmas!

Hmmm, any other way to attach the tree to wall? I’m not a fan of putting staples in the wall?
Yes, thank you for the suggestion. I will update the post to list other ways to attach the Christmas tree to the wall. You could try blue painter’s tape or masking tape and attach the felt tree back directly to the wall. You could also try velcro command strips. Good luck with the project, you’ll love it! 🙂
