Hello there, I’m “Mini Miss Mae!” I’m guest posting on my mom’s blog today to share with you how easy it is for kids to make a simple Kid-Made Christmas Countdown.
This idea all started because one day when I got home from school I said to mom, “Mom, how many more days until Christmas?” And she said, “Why don’t you go look at the calendar?” Brother number #1 came in and he asked mom, “How many more days until Christmas?” Mom said, “Maybe you should go look at the calendar.” Then brother #2 also came in and asked the same thing! Mom was frustrated and said, “Can you please look at the calendar?” Then all of a sudden, our little toddler who can barely talk, looked at mom and said, “Christmas?” Mom laughed and said, “Can somebody please go look at the calendar?!”
That’s when I decided to come up with this Kid-Made Christmas Countdown idea so we don’t keep driving my mom crazy!
Here are my kid-friendly, simple steps…
Step #1 – Grab Your Supplies
- Dollar Store Christmas Countdown Note Pad with Activities
- Wood Clothespins
- Scotch 3M Laminator and Pouches
Step #2 – Get Organized
- Tear off the countdown/activity sheets from the notepad
- Get the laminator ready
Step #3 – Fancy Cut
Cut the countdown cards with scrapbook shears to make a pretty edge. Be sure to cut them small enough to fit 2 countdown cards inside each laminating pouch.
Step #4 – Prepare the Laminating Pouches
Put the cards in the laminating sheets. Remember to try to fit 2 countdown pages in each laminating pouch.
Step #5 – Time to Laminate
Put the sheets in the laminator. Remember, open side facing up!
Step #6 – Assemble
Clip the countdown cards onto a long piece of ribbon with wooden clothespins.
Step #7 – Add some Cute!
Grab some pretty Christmas ribbon to make bows along the ribbon line and tie several knots to make it pop!
Step #8 – Hang up your Christmas Countdown
Find a good place to hang your Christmas countdown so your child can reach it.
How to use this Kid-Made Christmas Countdown…
Moms, this project is meant to help your children so that your little ones can have fun with their own Christmas countdown and so you’re not asked by them a 100 times, “how many more days until Christmas?”
Not only did I have fun making this countdown ALL on my own, but the activities on the back are awesome too! It’s fun knowing that each day I get to clip off a countdown card and do the fun activities on the back. What’s especially cool is because I laminated it we can keep it to use year after year!
I wish you and your children a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! Ho! Ho! Ho!
